The Pentax 67 (commonly referred to as the "Pentax 6x7") is a medium format SLR camera built to deliver 6x7 cm negatives on 120 or 220 roll film. The camera retains a traditional SLR layout but scaled to medium format, offering a familiar 35mm-like handling experience in a larger body.

This final version of the original 67 series features electronic shutter control with speeds ranging from 1/1000s to 4 seconds, plus Bulb mode, and a mechanical backup speed at 1/30s. Shutter actuation is via a large mirror-prism box, producing a characteristic and deliberate "thunk" on release, aided by a mirror lock-up function to reduce vibration during longer exposures.

Equipped with the waist-level finder, the camera offers a ground glass focusing experience with a central pop-up magnifier, emphasizing deliberate, composed shooting from the top-down perspective. The waist-level finder makes the camera lighter and more compact compared to the standard TTL prism setup and is especially suitable for tripod work and low-angle compositions.

Lens compatibility includes the full range of Pentax 6x7 bayonet-mount lenses, known for their optical quality and extensive lineup, including wide-angles, standard lenses like the 105mm f/2.4, and longer focal lengths up to 1000mm.

The build is all-metal and designed for durability, with a large, ergonomic grip and detachable film back door. Film advance is manual via a large-lever wind, and the system includes interlocks to prevent accidental double exposure. Film loading is straightforward, with a hinged pressure plate for format switching between 120 and 220.
