Jason’s Cradle is een man overboard systeem. Hiermee kan gemakkelijk, veilig en snel een drenkeling, horizontaal, aanboord worden genomen van een (reddings)boot.

Het is een wereldwijd bekend product voor een snelle en simpele redding. Daarnaast is het product ook voor de redders een veilig middel om te gebruiken in plaats van de drenkeling aan boord te moeten tillen.

De Cradle is gemaakt van plastic en alle bewegende delen zijn met elkaar verbonden met 316 marine klasse, roest vrij staal, om te zorgen voor een sterke bescherming tegen roesten.

Vele organisaties zien de Cradle als een stuk standaard uitrusting om de veiligheid van passagiers en bemanningsleden te waarborgen. De Cradle wordt gebruikt door o.a. de Marine, Kustwacht, het leger, redding organisaties, olie en offshore bedrijven, vissersboten en rijk rederijen wereldwijd. Ook de RNLI, de Engelse redding organisaties op zee, maakt gebruik van de Jason’s Cradle.

In geval gebruik wordt gemaakt van een normale Cradle, dan wordt deze aan één zijde van de boot gemonteerd. Binnen in de boot wordt deze vast bevestigd. De Cradle wordt uitgevouwen en er ontstaat een rond net. Deze laat je langzaam zakken en vaart op de drenkeling af zodat het hoofd als eerste door de ronde opening van het net heen gaat. Als ook de borst en de romp gedeeltelijk in het net zitten, trek je het touw aan en omhoog waardoor de drenkeling horizontaal de boot op rolt.

Het op deze manier binnen halen van (onderkoelde) drenkelingen kan van levensbelang zijn!
Daarnaast is de Cradle voor redders veilig om mee te werken in plaats van deze aan boord te moeten tillen.
