Ben Ryé behoort tot de zogenaamde Icon Wines van Donnafugata en is een dessertwijn gemaakt van Zibibbo druiven, een lokale benaming voor Muscat de Alexandria.

  De naam Ben Ryé komt van het Arabische "Zoon van de Wind". De druiven van deze wijn komen van het vulkanische eiland Pantelleria waar de harde wind continue rond de wijnstokken en druiventrossen waait. Het label weerspiegelt de liefde en toewijding van de mensen aan de wijnbouw in de uitdagende condities van dit unieke eiland.

Een eerste, gedeeltelijke oogst vindt plaats in augustus. De duiven worden met de hand geoogst en ondergaan in de wijngaard direct een nauwkeurige selectie. Als de druiven aankomen bij het wijnhuis worden ze schoongemaakt en nogmaals geselecteerd om beschadigde en onrijpe druiven te verwijderen. De druiven worden vervolgens voor een periode van 3-4 weken buiten in de zon gedroogd, hierbij verdampt het vocht in de druiven wat zorgt voor een hogere concentratie aan suikers en aroma's.

De tweede oogst vindt plaats in september, van deze verse druiven wordt sap geperst en vergist. Dit gebeurt in RVS tanks om de frisheid en fruitaroma's te behouden. Tijdens deze vergisting wordt in meerdere etappes de ingedroogde druiven toegevoegd. Deze voegen extra suikers, gekonfijte en complexe aroma's, kleurstoffen en frisheid toe aan de most. Ook deze vergisting vindt plaats in RVS tanks bij een gecontroleerde temperatuur. Het rijpen vindt plaats in RVS tanks gedurende 7 maanden en nog minimaal 12 maanden in de fles voordat ze de verkoop ingaan.

De wijn heeft een briljante amber kleur. In de neus een geurig en complex bouquet met tonen van verse abrikoos en sinaasappelrasp in combinatie met Mediterrane geuren als tijm en Rozemarijn. Het palet verrast met een geweldige intensiteit, frisheid en aangename zoetheid die in balans worden gebracht door een prachtige mineraliteit en levendige sappigheid. De finish is lang en sluimerend lang met een bevredigende fruitige noot.

Wijn/spijs:
Heerlijk met gekarameliseerde eend, foie gras en blauwe kaas en bij zoetige gebakjes. Op zich zelf ook een uitstekende wijn.

Great Quality, but Check Cabinet Height Carefully

I am so, so sad these iSpecle Pull Out Spice Racks did not fit in my kitchen cabinets. I thought I had checked, but the most my cabinets can take with the nonadjustable shelves is 9", and these are a little over 9.5" tall at the metal rack side. They may not fit where I intended to use them, but they appear to be good quality and really help with organization. They look nice and slide in and out well, so I fully intend to find another way to use them. Maybe under the bathroom sink where smaller items also like to cluster.

Finally solved my spice cabinet chaos

I didn’t realize how much time I was wasting digging through my spice cabinet until I installed these. My spices used to be stacked behind one another, which meant every time I needed a specific seasoning, I had to move half the cabinet around just to find it. Finally, a Spice Rack That Fixes the Real Problem—Access Without the Hassle

I am pleasantly surprised at how handy this spice rack is!! This iSPECLE pull-out spice rack does that others rarely deliver... makes your daily routine just that much easier. The biggest win here is access. No longer having to rummage through a messy cabinet or knock over jars to retrieve whatever you’re looking for. With everything just sliding out and coming up right in front of you. The idea is simple, but it creates a difference. There's your strong point here: the no-drill, peel-and-stick installation. It’s simple and time-saving, which is something. That being said, it still needs to be installed correctly. Use a clean surface, pressure, and time to set. Do that, and it holds well. Overlook that step, and you’ll be blaming the product when it’s all set up for you. The adjustable height is practical, especially if you’re working with a mix of 4oz and 8oz spice jars. Be Mindful Of The Height

So this spice rack is amazing, if you know what you're getting. I have had a similar one in the past that was just one level. It was great and made organization easy. This being two levels tall means you have to take that into account because it's going to change the shelve layout in your spice cabinet. It wasn't a problem for me and still ended up being a net positive for making the most out of the space, but my friend bought the same ones and ended up sending them back because they wouldn't fit into his smaller cabinet. If you are aware of that going in and know it's going to work for you, they are amazing. They slide smoothly, they hold a ton, and make getting to the items in the back infinitely better. Decent price for such a huge quality of life improvement for my kitchen.
