A lovely and unusual alternative to a Cherry. In the wild it is a small tree of the forest understorey and an important nectar source for bees; here it is recommended by The British Beekeepers' Association as an ornamental. Halesia carolina is a pretty unfussy fast growing spreading tree, growing to 12m.
