Version 2 is a dramatic evolution based on the knowledge gained from the 3 series.

Completely non-feedback discrete circuit

The amplifier employs a fully discrete, non-feedback circuit. Its extremely simple configuration consists of a power amplifier with a selector and volume control. This is essential to preserve the freshness of the music signal, just like our flagship A-3. The circuit eliminates CR resonance, and uses ultra-high-quality resistors whose impedance remains constant up to high frequencies. This achieves both high-quality sound quality and stability without limiting the frequency band, without losing freshness.

Single push-pull output stage

The single push-pull output stage uses TO-3P high-output, low-Cob transistors in a four-stage Darlington configuration, eliminating sound distortion while providing overwhelming driving power.

New bias circuit

The conventional LED bias circuit has been replaced with a newly developed bias circuit, dramatically improving signal-to-noise ratio.

High-speed discrete non-feedback power supply

A newly developed non-impregnated toroidal power transformer is used. By deliberately suppressing the secondary output voltage (maximum amplifier output), current supply capacity has been improved. This delivers impressive driving power with a pleasant bounce, even when used with modern, low-impedance high-end speakers.

Relay switching type balanced attenuator

The volume control uses a balanced relay attenuator system. This dramatically improves clarity and creates a three-dimensional sound image. It also significantly improves sound quality at low volumes, eliminating the need for worry about gang errors. Also, starting with version 2, the unit now has two XLR balanced inputs.

Direct Mechanical Earth Construction

By mounting the feet directly under the center of gravity of the transformer, harmful vibrations from the transformer are discharged directly outside the housing without interfering with the entire housing, enabling both lively musical expression and a high S/N ratio.

Resonance control symmetry chassis

The housing has a symmetrical structure that improves rigidity balance while controlling the sharpness of resonance (Q value). This eliminates the closed-in feeling that is common with high-rigidity housings, achieving a high-resolution, open SOULNOTE sound.
