I have taken many pix of this poster to show as clearly as I can that while this 1935 original is extremely rare, it is not in good condition. First, let me make clear that I am selling this FIGHTING PILOT aka DIAVOLO L'INTREPIDE for a valued customer. The recently discounted price makes it an absolute steal !
I have taken many pix of this poster to show as clearly as I can that while this 1935 original is extremely rare, it is not in good condition. The poster has faded unevenly, there are tears within the image area, stains and foxing. At some point in the past it has been linen backed, without, I assume, any effort at restoration. The rebate of the linen is very small. Despite all I have said, the poster displays very well, and the faults can be regarded as patination. It is, after all, 85 years old !
The reason for linen backing was that these French 2-panels were printed in two pieces, and mounting it this way is really the easiest way to displaying it.
