Euphorbia schoenlandii is a distinctive succulent species native to South Africa, known for its sculptural, shrubby growth form and striking geometric stems. It typically grows up to 12 inches (30 centimeters) tall, forming multiple upright, four- to five-angled branches with a green to bluish-green coloration. Along the ridges of each stem, small brownish spines and occasional leaf remnants can be seen. During the growing season, Euphorbia schoenlandii produces small yellow-green cyathia (flowers) that add subtle contrast to its angular form. Like many members of the Euphorbia genus, it contains a milky latex sap that is toxic if ingested or if it comes into contact with skin. Drought-tolerant and easy to grow, this species is a favorite among collectors of unusual and architectural succulents.
