    Covenantal Catechism Book 1

Covenantal Catechism helps parents raise children who need more Scriptural understanding of Genesis to Malachi so they can make a clear and complete biblical confession of faith and live it out. Each lesson has 4 review questions; 4-8 memory questions; memory song; Bible reading assignment; lesson explanation; questions on the lesson.

    Catechism Means Question and Answer

Book 1 is for beginners or ages 5-6 and surveys Genesis to Malachi. It contains lessons, reviews, memory work and songs, and Bible reading assignments. The Teacher's Handbook contains instructions for effective teaching of Book 1: Genesis to Malachi and an answer key

    This package includes:

After Jesus had led and taught the disciples three years, He posed this question to them, "Who do you say that I am?" Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Embedded in that short exchange is the essence of catechism and the essence of the covenant. Covenant is God revealing Himself and his people responding. This catechism curriculum then is built on that premise.

Since God’s revelation of Himself is one of the words He expects His people to respond first of all with words. It is upon that "God speaking, people answering" dynamic that this covenantal catechism program is based.

    Teaching What God Says—The Bible

The first part of a covenantal catechism program then will consist of teaching our children what God has said and is saying to them in His Word, the Bible. The series of books you see on this site is dedicated to assisting in filling that purpose—to reveal through the Bible the Word and works of our God. We may call this first part Scripture Catechism.

Teaching What the Church Answers—The Confessions

The second part of a covenantal catechism program will teach our children how they should answer our God; what confession of faith they should make. This normally takes form by teaching them the confessions of the church to which they belong. Although Line of Promise Press does not yet publish confessional catechetical material, much is available. You will find a page listing material available on this site. We call this second part Confessional Catechism.

What Is Our Doctrinal Position? Reformed and Covenantal

These books are Scripture Catechism, and express a standpoint that is both Reformed and covenantal.

    The teaching is Reformed.

The books teach from a perspective reflecting the great Reformation confessions — the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, the Canons of Dort, and the Westminster Confession and Catechisms. They belong to the heritage commonly known as “Reformed” to distinguish it from the Lutheran and Anabaptist streams of the Reformation.

Our Scripture catechism books clearly follow the great Reformation themes of Scripture Alone, By Faith Alone, Through Grace Alone, By Christ Alone, and To God Alone Be the Glory.

    The teaching is clearly covenantal.

    • The books and lessons teach that the Bible is the one revelation of the Triune God. God’s revelation is one, His church is one—Old Testament and New Testament—His salvation is one, always and only through Jesus Christ, from Adam onward.
    • They teach that God, from Adam to the present, has included children in the unbelief, and also in the belief, of their parents. These books, therefore, teach that infants born to believers are, along with their parents, members of the Church of Jesus Christ.
    • They teach that as God establishes His covenant with children, He speaks to them through His Word, also by means of catechism instruction, and expects and requires an answer of faith from these children.
    • They teach that the children are a covenantal unity of prophet, priest, and king. This means that the children, as an image of God, have been equipped with intellect, emotion, and will. This catechetical instruction will seek to inform their intellect, their mind; to call for a response of faith and love from their heart, and finally to challenge them to choose, to act, to live, in obedience to God.

John Owen commends catechism teaching by saying, "More knowledge is ordinarily diffused, especially among the young and ignorant, by one hour’s catechetical exercise, than by many hours continual discourse." You will find that all the great Reformers and church leaders of the 16th and 17th centuries—Calvin, Luther, Knox—called catechetical instruction essential.

"What I like most is that it focuses on number sense, mental math and learning that there is often more than one way to approach a math problem. The table of contents and layout makes it very easy to skip around or find what topics that you want to teach. There are plenty of problems and while we only do about 1/3 of them until mastery is demonstrated, you could easily spiral back for review or do more problems when it was a difficult concept.." Jennifer. The Old Stories Bundle

    In the Time of Noah

When giants rule the world, God decides that it is time to make an end of all living things: except for one man and his boat.

Before the Flood, there was a world dominated by giants, bloodthirsty and merciless. God was grieved. He would judge the world. But He would also save the world. This beautifully illustrated children's book is full of imagination, beauty, and excitement. Written by N.D. Wilson and beautifully illustrated by Peter Bentley, In the Time of Noah chronicles the history of Noah's obedience, from the building of the ark and the taming of the beasts, to the grounding at Ararat and the promise of the rainbow. The Old Stories series are designed to help children (and adults) re-imagine biblical stories, seeing things they have never seen before. Ages 4 and up.

    The Sword of Abram

Get ready to step into a world of shepherds and rebel kings, kidnappings and faithfulness, chariot dust and slime pits, vision and belief -- it all comes to life in the vividly illustrated Sword of Abram.

    N. D. Wilson and Forrest Dickison tell the story of our father in the Christian faith with wild realism that brings new depth to old truths. Ages 5 and up.

    The Dragon and the Garden

Once upon a time, there was a man and a woman in a Garden. And then suddenly, a serpent.

Prepare to see the Garden of Eden as you always wished you could - tangible, leaves rustling, the scent of fruit on the breeze. This beautiful and imaginative children's book brings the story of our parents' fall to life and points to the work of Jesus Christ, the greater Adam.

This retelling by children's author N.D. Wilson and illustrator Peter Bentley looks at the story of our first parents with wild realism, but also with a childlike honesty and clarity that bring new depth to an old truth. Books in The Old Stories series are designed to help children (and adults) reimagine biblical stories, seeing things they have never seen before. Ages 4 and up.

Large a tad small for 11 mens supercomfy and well made
Size: Large, Color: Color Mixed(quarter Socks)
These are quality socks, but for me the large are a bit small at size 11 shoesize. They are warm in any conditions, and warm days they can feel a bit stiffling, and I have probably sweatier than average feet, so without well ventilated shoes, my feet still get damp. They are so soft and cozy in cooler/cold weather. But again, it the heat, with some sweat, this makes them a bit "slippery" and my feet slide in my shoes on steep off-camber terrain. I would probably buy these again, except I have 6 pairs, and my wife buys me expensive branded socks I'd never purchase for myself.

    Awesome hiking socks!
    Size: Large, Color: Grey
Very comfortable and durable. I'm very happy with the quality of these sicks. I wear a mens size 11 shoe. The back of the sock come up about 1/2" above the back of my shoe. They are a perfect fit. I couldn't be happier with these. They are just the right thickness, too.

    Improved my foot health
    Size: Medium, Color: Color Mix
I’ve been dealing with athletes foot for decades and using daily maintenance medication for longer than many people reading this have been alive. I generally don’t have any issues other than I always at least one or two nails that are cloudy and brittle. I’ve tried synthetic blends in the past but this just seemed to make things worse so I always go back to cotton. I was been reading about the benefits of wool so I thought I would try these socks. I had several clouded nails at the time but in just a few weeks of wearing wool socks I noted subtle improvements. At the time of writing this it has been over 4 months of wearing wool socks exclusively and all my nails are completely clear and healthy! I honestly can’t believe it since I haven’t had seen completely healthy nails since I was a teenager. I do continue to use daily antifungal maintenance medication but the only change has been the wool socks. I think part of the issue was the cotton socks being soaked with sweat when I took them off at the end of the day regardless of the season or activity levels. The wool socks, however, are usually dry. Even after taking them out of a hiking boot on a hot day on the trail they will feel damp but not soaked. Consequently, they dry out completely on a rock while taking a short break. By staying dry they don’t bind up and cause hot spots like cotton socks. That, and I think they just distribute the heat better than cotton and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are actually cooler on hot days. Of course, in cooler temps they are warmer and I did appreciate how much so until the other day when I wore some cotton socks that felt like I was wearing ice cubes on my feet when I was walking around my hard wood floors at the end of the day. With these particular wool ankle socks I did note a hole around the toes with a couple of the socks after a few washes. My experience with cotton socks is that even the smallest of holes will grow exponentially with each use and so I generally just discard them. At first, I was disappointed thinking that these socks would not last but it does not appear that the holes grow like cotton. In fact, I haven’t thrown one wool sock away. My eyes aren’t great at close distant but it seems like the holes I noticed disappeared. Even if they didn’t it doesn’t matter since they do not currently seem to be a problem. I haven’t had these socks long enough to notice any thinning at wear points like cotton socks but I suspect that since they don’t bind like cotton they are less prone to wear. I now have a dozen pairs of wool ankle socks and I’ve gotten in the habit of putting them in a separate bin for washing otherwise they end up getting tumble dried with the rest of the family’s close. They have been in drier a number of times and I suspect they look a little more aged as a result. If I wash them separately with other delicate items I just lay them out on the floor after washing since they aren’t noticeably wet after a spin cycle and they completely dry out overnight. At this point I would rather put on a pair of wool socks straight out of the washer then put on dry pair of cotton socks since the results would be the opposite at the end of the day.

    Nice look, good value
Size: Large, Color: Grey Mixed(quarter Socks)
Fit great. Cushion on bottom is exactly what I wanted, top and ankle sections are much thinner as I wanted, so as not to be bulky. Expect they will well for walking and hiking. They did wash well although did lose some of the softness but did not shrink.

I received the 6 pack of socks to give as an Easter present. The socks were great colors, soft, and fit well. Will be a little warm during the hotter days. Unfortunately the yellow pair came with a hole already at the toe area.
