Millikan's Apparatus allows for the atomization of a latex solution into tiny spheres, while the rubber hose charges them with static electricity. The spheres are then inserted in a cell formed by two charged plates. When the voltage between the plates is reversed, the particles are drawn to one plate or the other.

A. Without Power Supply

The rubber hose charges the particles and they are then placed between two charged plates in a cell. By reversing the voltage between the plates, the particles are drawn to one side or the other. A small telescope with a graticule is used to observe their motion. The calculation of the charge on a single electron can be determined by measuring the potential of the cell plates and plotting the velocities of the spheres. External power sources need to be connected.

Includes:

  • Sockets for connecting to 12V.AC / DC at 3A for illuminator
  • Sockets for connecting a high voltage DC power supply
  • Knob to adjust cell voltage from 0-300V.DC
  • Switch to reverse voltage polarity
  • Sockets for a student bench meter or multimeter

B. With Power Supply

Using a rubber hose, a static charge is induced upon the spheres before they are introduced into a charged plate cell. By reversing the voltage between the plates, the particles are attracted to one or the other. The movement of the spheres can be observed through a small telescope with a graticule, and the built-in power sources allow for easy measurement of the charge on a single electron by plotting their velocities.

Includes:

  • Switch to reverse the polarity on the cell
  • Knob to adjust the cell voltage from 0-300V.DC
  • Sockets for a student bench meter or multimeter
Dimensions:  300m (L) x 165mm (W) x 165mm (H)
Power: 1.6kg

Nice umbrella stand
This stand is sturdy enough for my 9 ft umbrella. I only used water to fill it so it can be moved if necessary. The umbrella is taken down if it gets too windy as it would be damaged. This would not be the fault of the stand, just the nature of living near the coast.

Umbrella base
This umbrella base comes with a hole in it, in order for you to put sand in / water. You could get water in it a lot easier than you could sand. There's a tiny hole and the sand does not go very well down that hole. I've had a hard time trying to get the sand in. It is round in shape which makes it easier in the wind to tip over. But all in all for the price it was okay.
