Bharat is a foundational spice blend of Middle Eastern and Gulf cuisine, prized for its warmth, depth, and quiet complexity. Common across Iraq, Kuwait, and the Arabian Gulf, bharat translates simply to “spices,” yet each region — and often each household — blends it differently, confident theirs is the most authentic.

Typically built around black pepper, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and cloves, bharat may also include cardamom, nutmeg, paprika, or dried chili. The result is earthy, slightly sweet, and gently spiced rather than hot, designed to build flavor slowly and harmoniously.
