The samurai ruled the Land of the Rising Sun from the end of the 12th century to the middle of the 19th century. At the top were the Shogun, the military dictators who dominated Japan as regents to the Emperors. Below the Shogun were the daimyo, provincial warlords who governed their individual fiefs with virtual sovereignty. Shogun & Daimyo provides detailed information on the three dynasties of Shogun and one Shogunal Regency that dominated Japan during the feudal era, along with 171 daimyo clans that were defeated, dispossessed, or otherwise dissolved before the end of the samurai era. The information is organized as an handbook for creating more realistic backgrounds for role-playing games, boardgames, miniatures games, and computer games. It is also useful for those writing historical novels, screenplays, graphic novels, comic books, anim , and other creative works. Background material includes history, government structure, and a kanji primer. For gamers, a campaign setting is provided, along with notes on road travel, gazetteers of the major routes, and the use of mon "family crests." There is also a special section on samurai cinema with plot synopsis and recommendations for 103 chanbara movies and TV shows. Shogun & Daimyo is a companion to Daimyo of 1876 (Different Worlds Publications 2010). The two books together cover all the major clans and prominent families of feudal Japan. Among the shogun and daimyo in this book you will find: - Taira Kiyomori, the warrior-general who established the first samurai-dominated government in the history of Japan - Minamoto Yoritomo, Japan's 1st Shogun and eminent administrator, who moved his military government to Kamakura, far from the meddling influences of the Imperial Court in Kyoto - Ashikaga Takauji, the controversial samurai general who fought for the restoration of Imperial rule, but left the Court divided, and took control with a new warrior government as the 1st Shogun of the 2nd Shogunal dynasty of Japan - Takeda Shingen, a military genius and innovator who fought, Uesugi Kenshin in a series of legendary battles at Kawanaka-jima, and whose secret death drove the plot of Akira Kurosawa's film Kagemusha - Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a son of a peasant-warrior, who rose in power to complete the unification of Japan that was started by Oda Nobunaga, but whose ambitions led to the destruction of his clan - Tokugawa Ieyasu, a minor daimyo who became Shogun, and established the 3rd and last Shogunal dynasty that would rule the Land of the Rising Sun for two-and-a-half centuries, until the end of the samurai era. Profusely illuminated with hundreds of woodcut prints, paintings, photos, family trees, and crests. Suggested for mature readers.

Runs large with gaping arm holes.
Size: Large, Color: White
This runs extra large and the arm holes are gaping. You can see your undergarments through the arm holes. I am hoping that the shirt shrinks in the wash.

Fantastically Awesome!
Special Size: Wide Leg Crop, Size: 12, Color: Black
They are spectacular! Very nice quality and I love how they fit. Got the black and ice blue. Having read the reviews, I did go ahead and sized up 2 sizes and it worked perfectly. That is the only con in these jeans, they run at least 2 sizes too small. But, being 100% cotton, I expect that they will shrink down to pretty close my normal size. (I like jeans loose, so it's all good.) Got the cropped ones and I just love them. They are normal length now (because I am short), but after drying, I think they will end up at top of my ankle, and that is cool. The fabric is on the heavy side, but I expected them to be much heavier than what I got. I have a pair of Lee wide leg jeans, and they are much heavier than these. I hope that helps someone in terms of comparison. But overall, these jeans are fantastically awesome - and on sale too boot!! Buy them. They are very wonderful. ❤️

Insanely great jeans for the price!
Special Size: Wide Leg Crop, Size: 12, Color: Medium Blue Vintage
I’m obsessed with these jeans. They’re comfortable and I think they legitimately look great. I had a baby 6 months ago and my body is “in transition” so I didn’t want to buy anything too expensive. These are cute, fit well, good quality. Excellent for short girls - I’m 5’ tall and they’re exactly the right length for a full-length jean. I feel like they’re fashionable without being too trendy (they work for 30somethings as well as 20somethings). They’re nice thick cotton with very little stretch. Because of that I’d be conservative with sizing because they do stretch significantly when you wear them. I got these in the lighter blue, too. The darker wash is slightly smaller and I wound up liking the color better, too. But the light wash is nice.

Excellant value
Special Size: Wide Leg Crop, Size: 14, Color: Rinse, Special Size: Wide Leg Crop, Size: 14, Color: Rinse
Purchased the “cropped” length. I am 5ft 3.5 inch. Weight 170lbs (42 inch hip/38 inch waist) normally wear a size 10/12 or 31 in jeans, depending on the brand. I ordered up at 14 for these based on other reviewers. (When held up to other jeans they were the same as a Talbots 10 at the waist) Prewash they felt good, a little big& length hit at the top of my foot. After wash and dry, the fit was almost perfect and the length was at lower ankle. Ordering up is probably the right choice, although I think I could have been comfortable in a 12 (with no drying). They are a tad bit too long for a “cropped” look IMO. The wide leg is a true wide leg and falls straight from the waist. The material is heavy and there is almost no give/stretch - so a traditional denim. This is the dark blue and it is a true dark blue. You can’t beat the price, excellent value.
