Lagerung bis zu 11 Jahre. Eine Stunde vor dem Servieren dekantieren. Die Domaine du Pegau ist im Besitz der Familie Feraud, die ihre Wurzeln bis ins 17. Jahrhundert in der südlichen Rhone zurückverfolgen kann. Tochter Laurence und Vater Paul arbeiten unermüdlich an der Herstellung von Châteauneuf du Pape-Weinen im traditionellen Stil. Pegau gilt als einer der Top-Produzenten der Region und besitzt elf Parzellen mit erstklassigen Weinbergen in Courthézon, La Solitude und Bédarrides, die insgesamt etwa 47 Hektar umfassen. Ihr Cuvée-Reserve besteht überwiegend aus Grenache sowie einem kleineren Anteil von Syrah und Mourvèdre, Counoise und anderen Sorten. Alle ihre Trauben werden von Hand gelesen und ohne Abbeeren vergoren, um die Komplexität zu erhöhen. Der junge Wein reift in großen Eichenfässern durchschnittlich 24 Monate lang. Vor der Abfüllung werden weder Schönung noch Filtrierung vorgenommen, um den authentischen Charakter des Weins zu erhalten. Das Bouquet öffnet sich mit Noten von dunklen Beeren, Lakritze, Leder und getrockneten Kräutern, während der erste Schluck einen vollen Körper, feste Tannine und einen sehr langen Abgang enthüllt. Am Gaumen gibt es intensive Kirsch-, Pflaumen- und Cassisnoten, gewürzt mit schwarzem Pfeffer, Tabakblatt und Anklängen von Zigarrenkiste aus der Eichenreifung. Eine große Bereicherung für den Keller oder Partner für deftige Gerichte mit rotem Fleisch.
